Funds Available for Village Projects

The Village of Morrisville voters approved funding of $14,928 for projects in the Village at the Annual meeting held April 17, 2024. Of this amount $10,000 is available under the Special Projects Fund and $4,928 under the Amy Wade Fund. The Village Trustees are currently accepting proposals for projects of each type.

General guidelines for Special Project requests are: beautification; recreation; safety; general environmental projects. Past disbursements include but are not limited to: flowers; street trees; VAST trail maintenance; cross walk signs and other pedestrian improvements; downtown and business informational signs; recycling containers; and park security lights. Please note that individual street trees, on private property facing a public street, are eligible with a cap of $75 per 911 address per application.  A property may apply every other year.

General guidelines for Amy Wade Project requests are: “beautification of village streets and properties”.  It has been some time since Amy Wade funds have been made available so further guidance is not available to assist applicants.

Request for funds shall be made to the Village Trustees in writing and shall address which fund the applicant is applying for funds from. Adequate project description and cost detail must be provided for the Trustees to ascertain the suitability of providing funding for the proposed project. Please note it is the responsibility of the requestor to coordinate all aspects of the project, ensuring it is completed. The sole role of the Village is that of the funder.

Projects need to be “shovel ready” and are expected to be completed by December 15 of the current calendar year. Projects not completed before December 15 run the risk of not being reimbursed unless there were unforeseen circumstances as determined at the sole discretion of the Village Trustees.

Payments from the Special project fund and or Amy Wade fund will be made either directly to qualified vendors, or as reimbursement to individuals or organizations in December following satisfactory completion of the project and satisfactory documentation of expenses.

Special project and Amy Wade project requests can be submitted by mail or email to Scott Johnstone. Requests can be mailed to 857 Elmore Street, Morrisville, VT 05661 or sent by email to sjohnstone@mwlvt.com.
