Position Title: Operations Utility Technician

Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime)

Starting Pay Range: $25.92-$34.56 per hour, commensurate with experience

Position Summary

The Operations Utility Technician is an entry-level role responsible for supporting a wide range of essential utility operations. This position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across multiple trades and utility systems. The successful candidate will be safety-focused, eager to learn new skills, and able to contribute effectively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and operational tasks on hydroelectric dams, water systems, and sewer systems.

  • Assist with property management duties as needed.

  • Conduct meter reading and installation of customer meters.

  • Safely operate tools, equipment, and vehicles required for daily tasks.

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures to protect self, team members, and the public.

  • Collaborate effectively with co-workers to complete assignments on time.

  • Perform physical labor including lifting, carrying, and sustained outdoor activity in varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Vermont State Class 3 Water Operator Certification, or ability to obtain through company-sponsored training.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Interest or background in the trades is preferred.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform consistent physical activity.

  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn new skills across multiple utility disciplines.

  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.

  • Enjoyment of outdoor work in all weather conditions.

  • Strong teamwork, communication skills and computer technology literacy.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

Work Environment

  • Outdoor and field-based work with exposure to changing weather conditions.

  • Physical work requiring stamina, strength, and use of protective equipment.

  • Team-oriented environment with support for skill development and career growth.

  • Exposure to hazards associated with electrical systems, chemicals, and construction sites.

  • Ability to climb, stoop, and work in confined spaces.
